The easiest way to hang a rug is to use self-adhesive hook-and-loop tape (Velcro). Start by measuring the top edge of the rug where it will hang, and allow a little extra length as a margin. Then cut the tape into two matching strips — one hook side and one loop side.
Next, prepare the wall side: peel off the release paper from the adhesive-backed strip and stick it flat onto the wooden board that has been mounted on the wall. Press it down firmly and repeatedly so it holds securely and won't peel off. Wipe any dust off the board first — a clean surface will make the adhesive last much longer.
Then prepare the rug side: sew the non-adhesive strip along the top edge on the back of the rug. Stitch all the way around the edges — sewing holds far better than glue alone and can easily bear the weight of the rug.
With both sides in place, line the rug up with the strip on the board and press it into place from top to bottom, working outward from the center toward both sides. The rug will then hang flat and smooth against the wall. When it's time to clean or swap out the rug, simply pull the two strips apart: it's quick to remove and won't leave any obvious marks on the wall.
